1908-S $5 Indian. PCGS graded MS-67. An important key date to this series with only 82,000 struck. This wonderful Gem is quite impressive. It is very well struck with even the smallest detail of the design quite sharp. The mintmark is high and bold. The nearly perfect surfaces are exceptional and the color is simply outstanding, really breathtaking. The underlying luster bursts through gorgeous amber gold toning with shimmering aqua highlights. It is always satisfying to describe in glowing terms coins which truly deserve such description and this example is one of those special coins. It is sharply struck with virtually full mint luster and very clean surfaces. Pale honey gold toning completes the package. Low mintage of only 72,500 pieces. Breen-6817, "Extremely rare UNC." This lovely specimen will fit perfectly in a choice date set or perhaps a type set consisting of rare dates, a challenging project, but great fun during the hunt.
